The East coast of the Dominican Republic is filled with long beaches
of white sand along which Tourist Centers have been built.
Juan
Dolio, located only 15 miles away from the Las Americas International
Airport, the main entry port to the country; 25 miles away form
the First City, Santo Domingo and only 10 miles away from the
city of baseball players, San Pedro de Macorís, offers
a strategic position in the center of the southeast region of
the country, which allows visitors to get to know the most important
cities of the Island, filled with entertainment, historic places,
and national and international restaurants, among other activities.
Also, tourists visiting Juan Dolio have the opportunity to make
field trips to various interesting places, which may be exploring
some of our caves with Indian drawings, the nearby cascades and
rivers, the Saona and Catalina Islands; or simply to get to know
the diversity of our culture, being captured by its warmth, color
and honesty.
The
visitors to our tourist zone can enjoy as well the privacy offered
by the numerous hotels located seaside, with a capacity of more
that 40,000 rooms, submerged in an exuberant tropical and marine
view.
In
Juan Dolio the essence of our traditions can be experienced, as
well as the exquisite local gastronomy, all in an environment
of extreme fun that will make your stay in our country unforgettable.
One
of the reasons why Juan Dolio is preferred by tourists for their
vacation is its central location in the Southeast region of the
Dominican Republic, which gives them the opportunity to make various
field trips, not only to explore the island, but to share its
feeling.
The
nature lovers will also have the opportunity to visit the Saona
Island, part of the natural reserve of the National East Park.
(There is a colorful fisherman village in the Saona Island which
carries a rich cultural inheritance. In the inside of the island
there are caverns and lagoons which serve as sanctuary for the
migratory birds).
Another
interesting field trip is to visit the National Park of “Los
Haitises” a protected area for its geological formation,
its flora and fauna. (Haiti, which in primitive language means
“land between mountains”, is the name given to the
hundreds of hills and little mountains of rock covered with exuberant
rain forest vegetation. In the park there are: the cave “El
Angel”, the “Los Pajaros” keys, a humid rain
forest, mangles, and various caverns with underground rivers that
will make this an exciting experience.)
Another
place of easy access from Juan Dolio is Altos de Chavon,
one of the most famous attractions of the island, known as the
“village of the artists”, is a replica of a European
village of the XIV century. Altos de Chavon is the home of national
and international artists. (Here, the visitor can find, aside
from an internationally recognized art school, excellent restaurants,
a pre-hispanic art museum and of course, an impressive anphitheater,
which was inaugurated by Frank Sinatra.
Finally,
and far from being less important, is the visit to the city of
Santo Domingo, the Nation´s capital, where
the tourist will find, aside from a Colonial Zone that has the
majority of America´s firsts, a number of places where there
can be enjoyed the best international cuisine and exciting tropical
drinks; as well as exclusive boutiques for shopping, among which
are Oscar de la Renta and Gianni Versace.
The
bolder kind can go for a “Jeep Safari”
and have a first hand knowledge of the most remote and exotic
places of the island an at the same time plunge into the customs
and habits of its natives.
